Zlatibor enjoys a continental climate, with mild summers and cold winters. Its altitude of around 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) above sea level contributes to its pleasant climate, making it an ideal escape from the heat of the lowlands in summer.The region is often referred to as the "Serbian Riviera" due to its sunny weather, which averages over 200 days of sunshine per year.

Zlatibor is known for its traditional wooden architecture. The region features charming wooden houses, many of which follow the distinctive architecture style typical of the region. Visitors can explore these traditional homes and get a feel for rural life in Serbia. The Old Village (Selo) in the village of Sirogojno is an open-air museum that showcases this traditional style, allowing visitors to experience a preserved Serbian village from the 19th century.
